Ever since attending high school in Frederick, Maryland Chuck Foreman was known as an outstanding athlete. But not only was he a great football player, but his talents extended to track and field and basketball, too. It was in high school where Chuck first exhibited his ability to catch passes out of the backfield, and he led his basketball team as center to almost winning the state title during Chuck’s senior year.
Foreman began his professional career as a first round draft choice in the 1973 football draft. He was picked 12th overall by the Minnesota Vikings, and proved himself that year with rushing for 801 yards and catching 37 out of 182 attempted passes, gaining overall 362 yards. For this achievement Chuck was honored as the 1973 Rookie of the Year.
In the year 2005 Chuck Foreman was admitted into the College Football hall of Fame and honored him with the Community Service Award. Chuck Foreman was inducted into the “Ring of Honor” of the Minnesota Vikings.
